Satellite TV Deals — Who Has the Best ?
by: Brian Stevens
Getting the best deal on satellite TV service can be confusing.
There are only two satellite TV providers in the USA — DISH Network and DIRECTV — but each one has numerous independent dealers who offer a variety of different deals on satellite TV systems and service.
So how do you know which satellite TV provider has the best satellite TV deal? And how do you tell which of their dealers can offer you a great deal plus great service?
I’ve spent the last three weeks researching the Internet to find out which satellite TV provider has the best service, and which dealers are the most reputable and offer the best deals.
Here’s what I found
DISH Network Deal
Program packages: DISH Network offers four program packages. Prices start at $31.99 per month for their America’s Top 60 package which has 60 channels, and go up to $86.99 for their “Everything” Pak which has 230 channels.
Equipment: Basic equipment — the dish, receivers, and installation — is free. Options such as HDTV (high definition TV) and DVR (digital video recording) receivers may be free or cost extra, depending on the dealer.
Is Digital Camera Technology Making Film Obsolete?
May 30, 2008
Perhaps not yet, but the handwriting might be on the wall?
How is a digital camera different from a film camera? What are pixels and why are they important? What’s the difference between optical and digital zoom? What advantages do digital cameras have compared to film cameras? Let’s address these and other questions as we discuss digital camera technology.
First a short history and overview of digital imaging?
The technology began with television in the early 1950’s when researchers discovered how to convert video images to electrical signals for storage on magnetic tape. In the 1970’s electronic still photo cameras were developed. These employed the first generations of solid-state image sensors. By the late 1980’s megapixel sensors were introduced - the technology that paved the way to today’s modern digital cameras.
Fundamentally, film and digital cameras do the same thing. Both utilize camera lenses to focus photographic images on a light sensitive medium where they are stored for later retrieval. But the way each camera does this is radically different.
What is Defensive Spray?

What is Defensive Spray?
by: Julia Lambert
Defensive spray can be made from three chemicals: OC, CN and CS.
OC (oleoresin capsicum) is an ingredient of pepper spray. Pepper spray works by inducing immediate burning sensation of the skin and a burning, tearing, and swelling of the eyes.
Tear gases (CN and CS) are irritants. They cause profuse tearing, an intense burning sensation to the face and disorientation. Tear gas may not work if an attacker is drunk or on drugs.
There are different combinations, sizes and patterns in defensive sprays. For example, Mace Triple Action spray is a combination of OC and CN tear gas. But the majority of defensive sprays on the market are pepper sprays.
Also when buying pepper spray you should consider the size of a unit. The smallest size is 0.5 ounces and the biggest is bear spray which contains 9.2 ounces. Small spray is good enough for most situations. Put it on a keychain or a belt so you can easily access it in an emergency. For home or car use you should purchase larger sprays.
Pepper sprays come in two patterns: stream and fogger.
Healthy Webmasters Choose Ergonomic Computer Products
May 29, 2008
Webmasters usually sit at their computers much longer in a day than most other office workers, sometimes up to 10 and 12 hours. This can bring about the potential for physical discomforts that are attributed to prolonged use and the repetitive tasks that they perform on computers every day. If left unchanged, these discomforts can result in bodily injuries. If your income depends on you being online or at your computer, these injuries can cause you time off of your computer, very high medical bills, and loss of income. The use of ergonomic computer products will not only improve your health by making you more comfortable, but will also aid you in becoming more productive and have less physical stress and even make fewer errors.
You may now be wondering what Ergonomic computer products are and how they can help you be more comfortable at your computer. Well, to understand what these products are you must first know what Ergonomic is. Ergonomics is the study of work. This study aims to achieve the development of equipments, tools, and devices that fit the work of the webmaster. With this study, the proper tools and equipment can be developed to ensure that webmasters do not develop any serious health problems while performing their tasks at their computers.

How Do MP3 Players Work? Digital Audio Technology Revolutionizes Music Enjoyment
May 27, 2008
Millions have enjoyed recorded music since 1877 when Thomas Edison invented the phonograph. Then came radio, records, tapes and CD’s. But today’s digital audio players are a quantum leap forward in music technology. To understand what makes these music players so revolutionary, let’s explore the question, “How do mp3 players work?”
Until recently listening to music recordings involved mechanically moving the media past an interface to pick up an analog signal called a wave-form. This signal of vibrations was amplified and sent to the speakers where we heard it as sounds. When digitized, the wave-form becomes a WAV file. It’s a major improvement, but the file is very large and a CD disc is limited to about 80 minutes of music.
So What is an iPod, and How does an iPod work?
Apple’s iPod is the best known mp3 player. In answer to the question, How do iPods work, the next two paragraphs really describe how all portable digital music players function.
Software converts the music to a small digital file, usually WAV to mp3, using a codec like MP3 or WMA. The codec compresses the file by discarding sounds inaudible to the human ear. The digital file is stored in the mp3 player’s flash or micro-drive memory. Because the file is so small, a player no larger than a deck of cards can hold up to thousands of songs.
How Security Camera Systems Work

How Security Camera Systems Work
by: Derek Hanksworth
Security camera systems work via closed-circuit television (CCTV). This CCTV differs from broadcast television because all of the components of the cameras and televisions are linked with cables or alternate direct means. CCTV can be viewed in real-time, and there is no need to broadcast a signal.
CCTV can be found in many places, including airports, casinos, banks, and the streets. Cameras can be placed in inconspicuous or obvious places. There is usually a security room that has individual televisions that are directly connected to a specific security camera. The amount of security personnel needed to monitor the cameras varies with respect to the amount of cameras needed. In casinos, there can be hundreds of cameras.
CCTV has been used extensively in the United Kingdom. Authorities place cameras in car parks and on the streets. These camera placements have significantly reduced car crimes. Authorities in the United Kingdom have been pushing for the introduction of even more cameras. CCTV is very good for crime detection and prosecution.

Top 3 Tips For Buying An LCD TV
by: Amy Metz
I want a larger screen and so do you. There is absolutely no reason for this wanting except for the feeling of power that a large screen gives you. I have no idea why it is, but we all seem to want a larger screen for our TVs these days. The question is, how to get a good deal on an LCD TV without paying a fortune. Let’s give you our top 3 tips on buying an LCD TV.
1)Don’t buy a used one if you don’t have to. The funny thing about these TVs is that their prices drop significantly every month and that if you just wait a little longer, the price you’ll pay for a new TV is probably not going to be too far off from the price that you are going to pay for a used one. A little patience might actually save you some dollars here.
How To Have Two (Multiple) Copies Of Windows
May 24, 2008
Having two operating systems is not as difficult as many of us consider. It just requires little hard work and some good equipment. By equipments I mean good hard disk space and good RAM sometimes, depending upon which operating systems you are going to install.
So your first step is to choose which operating systems you are going to install on your computer. I would recommend you to choose them wisely because it could have some negative effects on the performance of your systems. If you have good processor, Pentium 4, and good RAM, at least 256MB, then you do not need to worry about the selection process. There are still millions of people who are using P II and P III processors. When I had Pentium III, I was used to choose windows XP with Windows ME and that was very nice pair of operating systems.
Now let’s turn to their installation procedure. This step is considered as a very critical step. Many people, with less knowledge, corrupt their data or operating system file by using wrong method to install both operating systems.

50 Emergency Uses For Your Camera Phone
by: Paul Purcell
In an emergency you’ll need to provide and receive help, and after it’s over, you’ll have to return, repair, and rebuild. Central to all this is communication and documentation. Our society loves red tape, especially after disasters. Below are 50 ways the camera phone can be used in an emergency to document, record, and relay important information.
Any camera could be used for some of these things, but the phonecam carries a distinct advantage. It can immediately transmit your pictures. If you don’t have a phonecam, go with what you have, or what you can afford. Disposable cameras and digital cameras are acceptable. However, the phonecam rules, so let’s look at ways yours can be used in an emergency. These are excerpts from “Disaster Prep 101”.
1. Last minute child ID. Whenever the family might be separated, take last-minute pictures of all family members, especially the kids, and pets.
2. Send a map. To send or receive directions to or from a location when voice directions aren’t working, draw a map on paper, take a picture, and send.
