How I Started Working With 3D Modeling Programs

September 22, 2007

So I’ll start from the very beginning.

One day I was surfing in the web and I found one site — www.digitalblasphemy.com and I browsed it. I was inspired by the 3D graphics’ realism and suddenly I noticed the “My tools” button. My heart stopped for a moment and after that I entered the section and some time later I already had the tools and started working.

In the beginning I don’t know why I thought it would be easy but later on I realised that I was wrong and it seemed impossible to create what the author had already did. But when I created my first render I compared it with some other from that site and I noticed that I had a female figure and he did also, so I am on the right way :) all I have to do now is tweak it a little. And once again with new motivation I started more deeply to study the chosen — Poser 4 program. As I was learning rapidly the essentials my circle of knowledge grew and I realised that there is so much more that I don’t know. The next couple of days I gave myself some time to think about that and I haven’t even touched the program. Going further I even realised that I can’t limit myself to that particular program and decided to learn some more less hard programs. Oh I forgot to mention that I did not learn everything with try and error, I also read some tutorials with difficulty level — easy. Now I am reading with moderate and I can’t dare thinking for the hard ones.

Improve Customer Service With GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems

Improve Customer Service With GPS Vehicle Tracking Systems
 by: Ken Sink

Business owners: use GPS vehicle tracking systems to improve customer service and bring your business into the Information Age.

The Information Age allows us to read breaking news, review up-to-the-minute stock-market information and check on the status of our bank account—all on demand. We take for granted the ability to find what we want to know when we want to know it.

The concept of a constant flow of information through precise, up-to-the-minute notification is accepted by a majority of society. Having our email forwarded to our cell phones is another example of how ‘connected’ we are today.

So, why do we ask our customers to put up with delivery estimates of ‘sometime between 9 a.m. and noon?’ Do we put our customers on hold while we call our service technician to find out when they’ll be at the customer’s site?

Are you providing your customers with outstanding service? Are you taking advantage of every tool available? Or is your competition?

Consider using GPS vehicle tracking systems to bring your business into the Information Age.

Image Formats: GIF, JPEG, BMP

September 20, 2007

When browsing the internet you are likely to come across many different image formats. However, the most common formats are: CompuServe GIF, JPEG, and Bitmaps.

CompuServe GIF

GIF stands for Graphic Interchange Format and was standardized by CompuServe in 1987. The very first GIF format was GIF87a and saves images at 8 pits-per-pixel with a colour level of 256. Then in 1989 CompuServe updated the GIF format to include animation, transparency, and interlacing, which was called GIF89a. Apart from animation, transparency, and interlacing there is little difference between to two.

JPEG

The JPEG image format was developed by Joint Photographic Experts Group. JPEG’s best feature is the compression, you can compact the image file to make it the size smaller (bytes). The problem with this format is that there is a trade-off details detail and size. Generally its best to save JPEG’s at 50% compression.

Bitmaps

Bitmaps was invented by Microsoft (everyone’s favourite company). The Bitmap format saves your image pixel for pixel, in other words, what ever you see on the screen before you save is what you see when you open the image again. The only drawback is that the file sizes can be extremely large, which may result in longer download/upload times

iPod Batteries and Accessories
 by: Dawn Rowlett

The Apple iPod has been taking the world by storm since the tiny handheld device has been released. The iPod has made it possible for people to download almost their entire music library into a mini-computer that they can take with them wherever they go. Apple has created variations on the original iPod, and has also created a variety of accessories to allow even more functionality from the little device.

There are many models of iPods now available on the market. There are the 1st through 4th generation iPods that are the typical iPod style-small and flat with a little display screen. There is also the iPod mini, which is smaller and holds less information that other iPods. There is also the iPod shuffle, which automatically shuffles through all the music files on the iPod. It holds less music than other iPods and does not have the display screen like the others. And there is also the iPod photo.

Get There! I Know You Can!
 by: John Rivers

Weekend adventurers and auto professionals have one thing in common - their craving for new and unfamiliar terrains. They crave for adventure and not just an easy one. It has to be hard and exciting. Ordinary drivers crave for the shortest travel to save time and energy.

Something mysterious and hard makes the driver’s adrenalin rush and soar. It gives them a fulfilling feeling that makes them crave for more. So they get addicted to it and so the thrill continues. Some drivers, on the other hand, crave for an easy driving. The choices differ.

Nonetheless, the common denominator between them is the craving for an efficient auto gps. A lot of luxury car or SUV owners spend a huge amount to have a built-in car auto gps. However, there is an affordable and easy way to have the same.

The practical solution is to have the new portable auto gps. You can transfer it from one vehicle to another and back. Why is it practical? Well, first it cheaper. Second, when said system becomes obsolete, you can easily dispose it without damaging your vehicle.

404 Error Pages: What Are They And How Do You Create One?

September 17, 2007

We’ve all seen them, you’ve been browsing a website and you click a link and nothing loads apart from the words ‘404 Error’ along with the usual stuff.

So what is a 404 Error page? The 404 Error page, basically informs the user that the server cannot find the file they are looking for. However, instead of using the default 404 Error page you can create your own, this is how you do it.

First, you need your .htaccess file which should be within your web site directory. If you cannot find it you will need to create one. You will have to contact your host asking them how you would go about creating or editing this file. They may want you to use a text editor and then upload it, or they may want you to use a PICO editor and create or edit the file on the server.

How you have access to the .htaccess file lets edit it. Add this line to the .htaccess file:

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.yourdomain.com/404page.html

Make sure this line is kept on online. This is where your 404 Error page is kept.

5 Top Picks For Handheld GPS
 by: John Rivers

Before, people have laboriously made sure they know where they are heading to just to avoid getting lost. They created detailed maps, erected landmarks, and memorized the positions of the stars in the night sky. But that was before.

Later, with the availability of accurate maps, nobody has to memorize the stars in the sky and nobody has to erect landmarks.

Today, there is no need to do all these things. With a device that could pinpoint your exact location in an instant, you can eliminate all the hassles of early practices. So when you are out for a hike, mountain climb, or just a simple camp out on the wilderness, all you need is one device: handheld GPS.

To help you choose one that is right for you, here are the top picks for handheld GPS:

Image Conversion In Computers

September 16, 2007

JPEG, GIFF/JIFF, BMP, and TIFF are the most commonly used formats for storing still image files such as photographs, graphics, and drawings. JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group and is a standard for image compression.

However, some amount of data/detail is lost in the process. JPEG therefore is characterized by a glossy compression technique for still color images, just as MPEG is used for compressing motion picture files.

GIFF/JIFF stands for Graphics Interchange format, which is a bit-mapped graphics file format.

Its storage is limited to about 256 colors as against 16 million colors in JPEG. GIFF therefore is more suitable to store illustrations rather than color photos.

Other popular formats for storing bit-mapped images are TIFF (Tagged image file format), BMP,and PCX. You’ll also see GIF and JPG. You may be wondering what a bit-map is? A bit-map graphic is composed of a pattern of dots (each dot containing bits of data). Vector graphics, on the other hand, use geometrical formulas to represent images. The latter can be scaled i.e. the object size can be changed while maintaining its shape. Vector images are thus more flexible than bit-maps. Also vector imageslook better on higher resolution and require less memory. This brings us to the difference between Paint programs and Draw programs. In Paint program the drawings are represented as bit-maps. Draw programs, on the other hand, represent images as vector graphics.

The Stunning Ring: Self Defense Wrapped Around Your Finger

The Stunning Ring: Self Defense Wrapped Around Your Finger
 by: Laura Hite

Choosing a self defense product can be overwhelming. So when making this important decision ask yourself, “How quickly will I be able to defend myself with this product?”.

An attacker often waits for that person who is alone and unaware. They look for vulnerability. Most people do not have the luxury of a personal body guard, so you must protect yourself.

In the event of an attack you have very limited time to react. You will not have time fumble through your purse or bag for that pepper spray or stun gun.

You need the power to stop an attacker at your fingertips. You can do that with the Stunning Ring.

The Stunning Ring is a self defense pepper spray ring. It is creatively designed to fit a man or woman; sizes 6-14. Choose between silver or gold plating, complimented with a genuine onyx stone.

Because it is disguised as a ring an attacker would never know you have pepper spray. The ring can be worn all the time or you can slip it on when necessary. The Stunning Ring is convenient because it will be there when you need it.

Getting Started with HTML

September 14, 2007

The basic language of the internet is html. If you can do crossword puzzles, if you can write a report for your teacher or boss, you can be creating web pages in a matter of minutes.

Even if you’re not a writer or not a ‘techie’. It’s sort of like your first date. Terrifying to think about, but not nearly as bad as you thought when it’s over.

The truth is that you can create your first webpage with just eight words enclosed in symbols. That’s right! The following words, with each enclosed in symbols, make a complete usable web page.

——————————————-

html

head

title

/title

/head

body

don’t enclose this one, it’s your content- hi (:

/body

/html

——————————————

If you copy what’s between the dashed lines above, open notepad, paste it into a page, enclose each word in symbols and save it as anyname.htm, you can open your web browser and load it just like any other web page or double click on it and it should load automatically.

Now, that wasn’t as bad as you thought, was it? All you need now is to learn some more of those words enclosed in symbols and you’ll be a pro.
