JVCs First Three-Layer Combo-Disc Blu-Ray / DVD
May 22, 2007
JVC developed and used a high-performance reflective film to produce this revolutionary three layer structure. The outer Blu-ray layer can be read by the blue light laser but it is transparent for the red light laser which therefore has access to the inner dual DVD layer.
The JVC disc sums 33.5 GB in total storage capacity of which: 8.5 GB are allocated to the standard video content; 25 GB hold high definition content.
JVC unveiled its intentions to promote its disc to the Blu-ray Disc Association, in the spring of 2005. Mass production will begin when BD-ROM players are available, early 2006. The combo disc will be available for a 30% higher price than standard DVDs.
The idea is to ease the transition among standard DVD and high definition discs. All big players on the DVD market, including JVC, expect SD and HD DVD to cohabit for a while.
At the beginning of this month, Toshiba and Memory-Tech were announcing their dual-layer DVD/HD DVD disk able to store both DVD and HD DVD content. The DVD layer had a 4.7 GB capacity, satisfying specification of current DVD discs, while the HD DVD layer could store 15 GB capacity.

Basic Problem in a PC
May 20, 2007
I have a p3 500MHz PC with 128MB RAM, 10.2 GB HDD Sony CD ROM 48x with window ME edition operating system. I have a problem- when I insert my audio cd, it shows the error message: "window cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have appropriate permission the access the item." Please tell me the solution of this error how can we configure the Yahoo! Account in outlook express. What is the pop mail and SMTP address of the Yahoo! Mail?
Dr Birbals: do you get this problem only in the case of audio CDs only or is it an every time phenomenon. If this problem is specific to audio CDs, then you must first check your sound card drivers and the compatibility of the player you are using to play audio CDs. Regarding configuration of Yahoo! Account in the outlook express, the procedure is simple. If this is your first account in outlook express, then on starting outlook express it will automatically start configuring an e-mail account for you, which could be your Yahoo! account also. However, if you are using outlook express already and would like to set another account i.e. Yahoo! Then you should add identity and start configuring the account as normally you would do by the following simple steps. However, when you are asked to enter the POP address, then use pop.mail.yahoo.com. In case of SMTP address, please use the address smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Enter the user name, which would be the first part of your yahoo e-mail ID. Then complete the rest of the step and this will finish the configuration.

Are You Well Protected?
May 19, 2007
Winter?the official start of the cold and flu season. Though, technically speaking, things got started a little early. Close to a million computers, mostly home PC users, have been infected.
For many of us our computers are our business. We keep in contact with customers and clients via email, do extensive internet research, and transmit important files electronically.
We know what to do to protect our bodies from viruses. There are some simple strategies, and even free precautions we can take to protect our businesses by keeping our PCs virus free.
Adopting the following six checkpoints will help keep your computer healthy and your business uninterrupted.
Use a Firewall
At its most basic level a firewall is a software security system that acts as a barrier between your computer and the outside world (the internet) by monitoring all incoming network traffic. A more advanced firewall will also monitor outgoing traffic. How you use your computer will determine whether basic or advanced firewall protection is needed.
What a firewall does is make your computer invisible while on the Internet. If hackers can’t see you, they cannot attack you.

The ABCs of Binoculars
by: Kelham Regress
Binoculars
Binoculars are actually two telescopes placed side by side
so a viewer can see through them with both eyes. Unlike
monoculars which is one small telescope and can only been
seen through using one eye. The advantages of using
binoculars over monoculars are:
1. Both eyes can see comfortably through both lenses
with having to squint one eye to see.
2. Binoculars provide three dimensional images that
have more depth. Two views are drawn together to make one
total picture and allow the viewer to see things at some
distances up close and personal.
3. Binoculars are just more comfortable to look through
and hold steady because both hands are usually used.
Binoculars come in the convenient hand-held sizes which
make them very easy to take with you wherever you go.
However, binoculars can also come in very large sizes but
those are usually used by more professional viewers and
need to be steadied by being placed on a tripod for support.
Most binoculars are used to view objects at very far

Dish Network: More Than 12 Million Customers Served
by: John Richardson
As of December 2005 Dish Network exceeded the 12 million-customer mark, living up to its reputation as the fastest growing digital satellite television provider in the country. The company has attracted more than 6.7 million subscribers since 2001 - that’s more new customers than any other satellite or cable company in the past five years. In January 2005, it reached the 11 million-customer mark, meaning that, in the past year alone, Dish Network added more than a million subscribers.
Dish Network’s parent company, EchoStar, is in the NASDAQ 100 and is a Fortune 500 company. The company has been extremely innovative over the years, introducing cutting edge equipment well ahead of other TV service providers. They were the first to introduce satellite receivers with built-in digital video recorder (DVR) capabilities, and the first to have a DVR that makes it possible for subscribers to record and view two different shows at the same time. Dish Network has also pioneered high definition technology, offering the widest range of high definition programming (HD) available. They were the first to introduce a high definition DVR. They now offer more than 1700 hours of HD programming a week, with HD options in movies, sports, news and weather.
Password Nightmares
May 16, 2007
Good Morning Mr. Sampson. Please type in you Personal Identification Number
XXXXXX
Sorry, Mr. Forgetful Idiot! That is not the correct password. Please slap yourself three times around your head and then apply for a new card and number ? we are keeping this one.
Don’t you just hate them? Passwords give you access to almost every walk of life. They are now the keys to doors that would otherwise violently slam in your face and tell you to XXXXXX, which they often do if you key the wrong password in anyway.
The first passwords to really come on the scene (apart from those required to gain entry into the back room of the Mafia club) where those at the ATM machines. A four-digit PIN number has to be entered before money can be withdrawn and for those with one account and a pass number drawn from an important date, no problem existed.
Then your one account became two as the building societies introduced ATM machines, then your savings account at the post office and then to beat it all Internet Banking came on the scene. Passwords are now required for Banking, shopping on the web, switch cards, visa cards, store cards, petrol cards and any other card that you may have.

How to Customise your Cellular/Mobile Phone.
by: John McFarlane
Our current choices of Cellular/Mobile handsets are really quite amazing, it seems that there is a phone to suit everyone, what ever your requirements and necessities.
The features of our phones are ever increasing and we feel somewhat comforted by the multiple uses of our handsets.
Almost everyone is sure to find a phone that will fit their needs, not just in the variety of the phones uses but also a handset that is aesthetically pleasing.
It might be the colour or the shape or even the feel of the phone or a combination of all three.
To many individuals it is as important to them to be seen with a smart phone as it is to be seen with the latest hair cut or that great pair of jeans that are a must have item of the time.
People are conscious of fashions and trends, of what they possess at the time and also of what others possess around them.
But what really makes people stand out is having something customised exactly to their tastes.
