How to Use SQLXML to Retrieve Data from SQL Server Database?

Using SQL Server 2000 and above versions you can retrieve data from SQL Server in XML format directly from the database. Many XML related features were incorporated in the SQL Server database. This enables the development of XML enabled applications very easy and it makes exchange of data over internet easy. In this article we will discuss about how to use SQLXML to retrieve data directly from SQL server database in XML format.
There are some SQL commands and clauses that help you to retrieve data from the SQL Server in the XML format. Syntax for such is given below:
SELECT … FOR XML mode [, XMLDATA] [, ELEMENTS] [, BINARY BASE64]
There are different modes and that take the values of
· AUTO ? In this mode every row of the result of the query forms an element in the returned XML document.
· EXPLICIT ? This mode defines how to map the columns of the results returned by the query to the XML elements and the attributes.
· RAW - All the fields of the result are identified as attributes of an element.

All of us are familiar with the pyramids of Egypt. These magnificent structures have stood for thousands of years, withstanding extreme heat and other factors that would bring down an ordinary structure.
When we look at these pyramids, we instinctively look toward the peak. We tend to do the same with the Cisco Learning Pyramid. If you’re not familiar with this, Cisco uses a pyramid to illustrate how the CCIE is at the peak of the Cisco certification structure, with the CCNP in the middle and the CCNA at the bottom.
I’m often asked how to become a CCIE. My response is always “Become a master CCNA and a master CCNP first”. That answer is often followed by a puzzled look, as though I’ve mentioned some new kind of Cisco certification. But that’s not it at all.
The reason the pyramids of Egypt are so strong, and the reason they have lasted for thousands of years, is that their foundations are so strong. It’s not the well-built peak that allows such a building to last it’s the foundation.
A Tale of Two Regeds

Tech support tells me to type ‘regedt32′ as opposed to ‘regedit’ to access the registry from the command line (Start > Run). I question the use of ‘regedt32,’ but he says to do it anyway. Whenever I use the registry editor, I recall this incident and never look up the tale of the two regs… until now.
Regedt32.exe is an alternative registry editor available with Windows NT/2000 with features of its own. Regedt32.exe does not support importing and exporting registration entries (.reg) files. Regedit has limitations of its own as quoted here:
You cannot set the security for registry keys. You cannot view, edit, or search the value data types REG_EXPAND_SZ and REG_MULTI_SZ. If you try to view a REG_EXPAND_SZ value, Regedit.exe displays it as a binary data type. If you try to edit either of these data types, Regedit.exe saves it as REG_SZ, and the data type no longer performs its intended function. You cannot save or restore keys as hive files.
Research indicates regedit has:
- a better search tool
- bookmarking of subkeys
- opens to last edited subtree, export and import capabilities
- all keys are visible from a window similar to Windows Explorer
Back Up, Back Up, Back Up!

This is not your typical lost data story. I was a good girl and I kept my files on the network drive just like the company recommended. The only thing I put on my hard drive was junk files - things that wouldn’t bother me if the hard drive crashed. But not on the network drive. The drives are backed up and even my PC has a local back up program. Can you see where this is going?
On Wednesday, August 25, I accessed my work from the network drive as always. I kept copies of my time report and my daily activities there. Since I was going to be out on August 26 for surgery, I saved everything and did the usual end of day sign out routine.
I returned to work on Wednesday, September 1 and accessed the drive through my ‘Favorites’ and got an error message. Thought nothing of it — figured the network was down or something. Eventually, I went into File Explorer and accessed my private network drive from there. Ah ha! They moved me to a new server. Fine, fine. Whatever.
Printing Multiple Copies of Photos

I do a holiday letter every year and send them to friends so they know what’s happening with my family and I ask them about theirs. Though addressing the envelopes and such is a pain, I enjoy doing the letter and adding a wallet-sized photo of my kids to show them off. To print nine wallets on a page, you don’t have to copy the picture eight times in Word and then print it. Here’s an easier way.
In most cases, you can double-click on your photo file and it opens Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. If not, right-click on the photo file > select Open With > select Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Before you start the process, ensure your printer is on and the computer can see it.
Now you’re ready to print. For best results, use photo paper in the photo printer. Photo printers have gotten cheap. I got mine for about $100 and it is great. Be sure to factor in the cost of replacing the ink when choosing a printer.
Click on the Print icon in the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to start the photo printing wizard as shown in the picture.

Basically, it removes files that may have once been useful or used but now are just taking up extra room that could be used for more useful programs and files.

In the 1950’s and 1960’s Polaroid’s instant cameras were all the rage. You could shoot a picture and have the finished print in a minute or so. The quality wasn’t that great, but hey, you had your pictures now! Today with digital cameras and high-tech photo printers, we have quality instant photos virtually indistinguishable from processed prints. And unlike the old instant cameras, you have the digital equivalent of a negative for future use.
